It is a wireless sensor network technology which the main characteristics are low cost, low data rate and low power consumption. Zigbee networks have three types of devices: coordinator, router and end device. And energy consumption is among the biggest challenges in wireless sensor networks.
In this thesis, we propose an improved algorithm which is based on Zigbee tree-topology, through the neighbor table which defined in Zigbee protocol. When transferring the package, it will choose the route which has the lowest cost. Add the detection of node’s energy, to avoid the early death of some nodes to ensure the integrity of the overall network.
Compared with the original tree routing, our algorithm can effectively reduce the hop counts, we are by the concept of reducing the hop counts to achieve the goal of reducing power consumption.
