  • Abstract Astaxanthin has been proved of many important functions as an anti-oxidant, and it has been in large-scale produced for commercial availability. Therefore, reducing the cost of production process and increasing the total yields are benificial for industry.
    In this work, it was to investigate the optimal conditions for both cell growth and astaxanthin biosynthesis in Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous, including pH and agitation speed during fermentation in a 5-L fermenter.
