  • Abstract The company can maintain the integrity and security for all their valuable electronic assets via backup processes regularly. It also can maximize the availability and extend the retention period of data with backup. But backup processes are usually routine jobs and need take long time to finish, even the backup times, storage space and network bandwidth will increase once the enterprise scale up or business revenue growth up, that will impact the quality and success ratio of backup, it also hard to keep higher data recovery capabilities and backup performance. The "Data De-duplication" is an emerging technology of backup system. That mainly used to prevent a large number of duplicated data which caused by frequent backup processes. It also caused the management of enterprises on the burden and expense of additional equipment.
    However, different file types may have different composition of the file structure, compression technology and compression ratio. So this study used the data de-duplication backup technology combined with virtual tape library system architecture, and adopted the network based client/server automated backup software to do the data de-duplication backup evaluation testing for those file types often found in enterprise information system and which easier to generate huge duplicate contents of files during frequent backup processes. To analysis and comparison of the testing results for various types of file, and figure out whether the test results have the same or disparate data de-duplication effect in the duplication of data after backup. Finally summarizing all backup results of various types of file verification, In order to provide a reference for all SMB customers who have not yet imported or are about to import the data de-duplication backup system or high-efficiency backup environment.
