According to 2013 Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Organization（GOLD) treatment standards, long-term anticholinergic tiotropium can selectively inhibit M3 and M1 receptors. The duration of action of Tiotropium is more than 24 hours,which can reduce the probability of COPD exacerbations and hospitalizations, improve symptoms and health status, and increase the effectiveness of pulmonary rehabilitation.
If Respimat R inhaler can properly connect to a mechanical ventilator to deliver drugs for patients with respiratory failure, it will improve the quality of care. This study designed a method to connect the inhaler to ventilator to improve the deliver of drug into lung. The delivery amount of drug was analyzed with High Performance Liquid Chromatography.
