Smart phones and tablet PCs, for example, are among the most popular. It is now extremely easy to access wireless networks on these handheld devices. The hardware specifications of handheld devices are very good now. As a result, it is no longer a problem to perform larger traffic flows such as streaming online videos on a handheld device. The bottleneck problem has now moved to the server-end as mobile phones and PC tablets attempt to access the streaming server via a wireless data connection. In order to allow users to smoothly stream data, streaming servers must achieve load balance. This paper proposes a new algorithm to achieve optimal load balancing for a streaming server. This new algorithm includes a switch to monitor the traffic load and to make sure load balance is achieved through the SNMP protocol. This new solution will allow enterprises and service providers to reach load balancing purposes without adding additional hardware by utilizing an idle, low cost switch.
