The aim of this thesis was to collect statistical data via live commercial network drive test benchmarking, then to analyze the HSDPA system deployment and to analyze the HSDPA system performance of these mobile-telecommunication operators.
After the field test and back analysis, we have the following conclusions:
1. Mobile-telecommunication operators are constantly improving their
HSDPA network efficiency and coverage to provide users better downlink
throughput since July 2007.
2. As shown in our field test results, the HSDPA technology absolutely
has higher throughput compared to the current 3G network, which only
have the maximum downlink throughput of 384 Kbps.
3. The data downloading throughput in stationary mode is much better and
more stable than in mobility mode. The main reason is that a
frequently changed radio environment (cell change, RF signal strength
and quality varies…) will lead to downloading with higher data error
