||The objective of this study is to explore the correlation between the design elements of refrigerator handles and various adjectives for image perception. This study is comprised of 3 sections:
(1)Select the most iconic refrigerator handle as an example for analysis of design elements. Explore the types of refrigerator forms. Professional designers selected the two most iconic standard refrigerator models through the categorization process.(2)Conduct image perception tests on refrigerator handles before exploring the correlation between design images and various adjectives for image perception. (3)Analyze design images of the refrigerator handle, as well as conclude general reviews on the cause-effect relationship, between “practical” and “preferential”. Before conducting image perception test for further verification, design two handles that adhere to “practical” and “preferential” of the general reviews in accordance with the aforementioned analyses.
The main conclusions are shown as below:1.According to the experiment results, the two standard models of refrigerator handles will not cause any impact on the use of adjectives for image perception.2.The cause-effect relationship of the conclusions on “practical” refrigerator handles:The analysis result indicates that, general reviews of “practical and impractical” are mainly affected by imageries, such as “efficiency”, “safety” and “modern”. In other words, refrigerator handles with a “practical” design also consists of “efficiency”, “safety” and “modern”.3.Cylindrical form is visually perceived as convenient and comfortable for gripping, and the feeling of safe and secure. On the other hand, it also creates an image of being repressed.4.The sleek styling form is visually perceived as modern, while adding gracefulness and class.5.Refrigerator handles with numerous components is visually perceived as untidy. This particular form gives the visual impression of being crack-prone, which also gives an impression of hidden dirt.6.In terms of the materials, aluminum adds a visual impression of masculinity, and at the same time conveys an image of being “high-end”. For the use of color, bright colors create warmth and gentleness.
