  • Abstract The development and usage of VoIP has been active for many years. In the end of 2003 year, consumers had another choice in telecom products because VoIP products are fast commercialized. However, there is no encryption to ensure consumers’ communication privacy when VoIP transmits voice packet in Internet.
    In March 2004, Secure RTP (SRTP), which is focused on VoIP, was standardized within the IETF. RTP is the main protocol for the voice transmission of VoIP and SRTP is designed for RTP security to avoid hacker cracking.
    This thesis discusses that if SRTP can meet efficiency requirement upon VoIP usage and compare IPsec performance in the processing speed and transmission. The simulation result shows that the whole performance of SRTP is suitable for the streaming encryption.
