Totally, there are six transmitters to provide test signals. They are located at bamboo mountain in Taipei, Lungtan area in Tayou, Inflammation mountain in Maouli, Phoenix area in Nantou, Pillow mountain in Tainan, and Chungliau in Kaoshung, all are in the western part of Taiwan .The evaluations were carried out in northern part of two freeways (No.1 and No.3 ). The tests covered the mobile and fixed-point receptions. The fixed-point tests were carried out at the exits on the freeway. Field strengths along with bit erroe rates were recorded. We also measured the impulse responses to evaluate the multi-path effects. The received signals were also objectively classified into three grade levels.
Based on measured results, both single frequency networks are compatible to eath other on the northern part of Taiwan. However, there are some differences on the southern part of it .It was found that the reception failed for several kilometers in Tainan and Kaoshung for FTV network. The displayed picture was very poor in those routes. However, the reception signal of TTV network can keep on an acceptable level. Only a few interrupted signals were observed.
