||Propolis is the mixture of bee saliva and extract of tree, and flower etc. It is used to patch, to seal, and to sterilize the hives. It has been adopted as a form of folk medicine as early as 2500BC. Recently, it was reported to possess antibacterial, fungicidal, antiviral, antiulcer, immunostimulating, and hypotensive activities etc. These properties of propolis are identified by its special chemical composition, fatty and phenolic acids and their esters, aromatic aldehydes and alcohols etc., as well as a large number of flavonoid compounds. Propolis products include tincture, capsules, tablets, and power etc. They are all labeled with health promoting effect with various prices. This study simulated the commercial production process and economic analysis of propolis tincture of 7.875 tons/year. The production cost of propolis tincture is estimated as US$234.83/kg. The annuals grass-profit is estimated as US$0.92 million . Therefore, the commercial production of propolis tincture is worth of further study.
