  • Abstract Several techniques are proposed in this thesis to reduce side lobe levels of a partially reflect antenna. Conventionally, partial reflect antenna contains a highly reflective sheet which is located a half wavelength from a perfect conductor (or ground plane). The reflective sheet is constructed by uniformly spaced patch elements and its size is equal to that of the ground plane. In this thesis, we propose an inhomogeneous spaced partial reflect antenna. The size of the reflective sheet may or may not be equal to that of the ground plane.
    By these techniques, we found that average side lobe levels are largely reduced within  near bore sight direction compared with conventional designs.
    In addition to the above mentioned techniques, we also present a stacked structure to further boost the gain of the partially reflect antenna.
