  • Abstract   Following the advancement of medical technologies, the average life expectancy is increasing, with the rapid increase of senior population. As Taiwan is expected to enter aged society by the end of 1993, the care of seniors is now one of the most concerned social issues. According to the statistics from the Ministry of the Interior regarding the life care services for the elderly, the needs for home care services are climbing, and the resources for care services in the maintains, islands or distant regions are obviously insufficient due to the limitations of geographical environments. Therefore, it is important to provide home care specialists with more suitable ways to perform their home care services by connecting home care resources through mobile devices, in order to insure home patients’ reception of complete and high-quality services. This study presents the design of integrating mobile devices with a home care system. With the convenience and mobility brought by mobile devices, information of homes requiring services with route guidance can be instantly accessed to save home care specialists’ time and travel distance. In addition, home care managing specialists can obtain home patients’ bio readings through the server to efficiently understand home patients’ health conditions and arrange necessary care services for them. With the proposed system, care managing specialists can now ensure that home patients can receive high-quality home care services.
