Title An Experimental Study on the Heat Transfer Performance of Nanofluids

  • Abstract This paper reports an experimental work on the convective heat transfer of nanofluids, in which are suspension consisting of Cu nanoparticles are in a base liquid,like DI water or ethylene glycol. The nanofluids flow through a copper helical coiled tubes in the laminar flow regime. Steady state heat transfer experiments of helical coiled tubes were performed for the relevant parameters in the following ranges: the input temperature in the heated section T=60℃, the flow rate of nanofluids =65~295 (mL/min) ,the weight percentage of the Cu-DI water nanofluids Cw=0.092wt%、0.138 wt%、0.292 wt%, and the weight percentage of the Cu- ethylene glycol Cw=0.107wt%、0.184 wt%、0.388 wt%。
    The results indicated that the copper nanoparticles had profound and significant influence on overall heat transfer coefficient in the nanofluids with different concentration.For example,the Cu-DI water nanofluids could increase the overall heat transfer coefficient 19% than that of pure water,the Cu- ethylene glycol could increase up to 28%.
