The purpose of this study is combining them, and then developed a new type of nano gold/iron nanowires composites. The structures, morphologies and magnetic properties of the synthesized nanocomposites are investigated in this study.
Under external magnetic field, iron nanowires are synthesized by chemical reduction method. Furthermore, the iron nanowires are used as supporter to support gold nanoparticles by polyol process using HAuCl4•3H2O as precursors. Different amounts of gold nanoparticles are deposited on the surfaces of iron nanowires for investigating the influence of added gold. Moreover, various heat treatments of synthesized nanocomposites are also examined.
The results show that the saturated magnetizations of the gold/iron nanowires increase with the added amount of gold. With the same weight ratios of gold, the saturated magnetizations of gold/iron nanowires are changed by different heat treatment, which due to the different oxidation structures. 5 wt.% gold/iron nanowires heated in H2/Ar has higher saturated magnetization than that without heat treatment.
The structures of nanocomposites are analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern. The contents of gold in nanocomposites are examined by Induced couple plasma (ICP). Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) is applied to observe the morphologies, structures, sizes and dispersion of gold on iron nanowires. Vibration sample magnetometer (VSM) is used to investigate magnetic properties of the nanocomposites.
