Title THE IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY INTERRUPTION ON JOB ENGAGEMENT AND LIFE SATISFACTION: THE PERSPECTIVE OF WORK -FAMILY CONFLICT

  • Abstract Availability of mobile technologies is rapidly spreading throughout the world and making unexpected impact on our lives. For example, it causes the plenty of conflicts due to technology-mediated interruptions. Our study based on the theory of role ambiguity, work/family border and conservative of resource to examines how technology-mediated cross-domain interruptions affects the people‘s work and personal life, and how the impact of conflict caused by outside the work and at work influences job stress. Moreover, our study also want to explore the relations among job stress, job engagement and life satisfaction.
    Questionnaires are collected through the accounting firms with 291 employees. In this study, work-to-personal life interruptions is positively associated with work-to-personal life conflict and work-to-personal life conflict is also positively associated with job stress. On the other hand, personal life-to-work interruptions, it significantly affects personal life-to-work conflict, however, personal life-to-work conflict have no significantly influence on job stress. The results also revealed that job stress was negatively associated with job engagement, and job stress was found to be a significant predicator of life satisfaction.
