Title Synthesis and Characterization of Pd-based/CeO2/MWCNTs Nanohybrid Electrocatalysts

  • Abstract In order to apply for direct formic acid fuel cells and electrocatalytic hydrodechlorination of chlorophenols, this study is to synthesize nanohybrid Pd based/CeO2/MWCNTs by impregnation, polyol and photo synthesis method. In order to prevent the poison caused by CO in DFAFCs and HDC reaction, and to avoid Pd leaching into formic acid, ceria and Au will be induced.
    The nanohybrid catalysts are characterized by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, and TGA. The electrocatalytic properties are measured by CV in formic acid, HDC-CV and product analyzed by HPLC.
    Polyol-AuPd/MWCNTs catalyst is proved to be the best electrocatalyst for both DFAFCs and HDC. In HDC reaction, polyol-Pd/CeO2/MWCNTs catalyst has second maximum current density 113.3mA/mg Pd, next to AuPd/MWCNTs 275.3mA/mg Pd, and conversion of 28.61%.
