  • Abstract In recent years, to cope with the implementation of the multiple entrance program, the Ministry of Education thus promotes the university entrance program, allowing students to choose their most suitable academic areas throughout their four years in university on the basis of their aptitude, capability as well as interests.
    Since 2007, the Ministry of Education has actively promoted the “General Education Mid-Term Guideline” program, with one of the projects for development being “making General Education the core of the School Curriculum Innovation Plan.” In the plan, constructing the School Curriculum Mapping and providing the General Education Curriculum are two major aims to develop.
    Currently, nearly all schools are close to the stage of completion. Detailed curriculum mapping provides correct information and direction to students to help them choose the most suitable courses. However, most curriculum maps at current stage are limited in function; the data can only be used for browsing. Other than that, no further functions, such as searching or inquiring, are provided.
    Open data have prevailed in Europe and America in recent years. RDF is now a precursor adopted by W3C to solve the problem of resource specification. It not only allows users to establish hierarchical concepts and attributes, but provides many advantages, such as data exchange, data for reading and to be reused, data to be accessed and comprehended by the computer, and so on.
    This study will use the Semantic Web, the RDF technology as well as the 5 Star data concept proposed by Tim Berners-Lee to analyze the current situation of curriculum mapping. Through semantic analysis and description, the existing curriculum mapping information will be converted from 3 Star level to 5 Star level and later be classified by the use of ACM CCS, the CSS2013, and the ISO/IEC information technology vocabulary set by India. Based on the concept of Linked Data proposed by Tim Berners-Lee, a knowledge organization syllabus will be developed to serve as a guideline and a reference not only for students when they want to select courses and decide on future careers, but for teachers as well when they have to design and modify their curriculum. Presented in the form of the Virtuoso cloud system software, curriculum mapping offers more abundant resources for teachers and students to search for any information or later apply it.
