  • Abstract   Ductile iron (DI) is widely used in the industry, but the iron matrix cause the poor wear and corrosion resistance, and has limited the usage of DI. In this study, we used DI as substrate, and Electroless Nicke (EN) as interlayer to avoid hole-defect on the surface due to the nodular graphite in the matrix, deposited TiAlN/ZrN multilayer by used cathodic arc deposition (CAD) with lower the rotation speed. And discussed the layer properties change as the effect of substrate bias change and the EN interlayer. To understand the change of residual stress, the post-heat treatment (PH) was used on one set of substrate bias.
      The properties of residual stress, polarization test, immersion test, solid particle erosion test, slurry erosion test, and the wear test by Ball-on-disc, were all analyzed for exploring the effects of the EN interlayer and various substrate bias (one with post-heat treatment) conditions on the surface properties. The experimental results showed that the TiAlN/ZrN multilayer deposited on EN interlayer has improved the wear and corrosion resistance of the DI, and post-heat treatment has lower the residual stress and changed the hardness and wear and corrosion resistance of the film.
