Title A study on Children’s Notebook Innovative Design

    21st century is the era of digital life, the computerized operations are increasing more and more at school, meanwhile the age of children in computerized operations is reducing significantly. All consumption were saved during the economize of recession, however in the parents mind, only the consumption for children's education can’t be saved, therefore, to meet children’s basic requirement with user-friendly, it has become the big challenge for designers.
    This study is to research children’s notebook computers innovative design based on children's favorite shape, colors and special requirement such as durability and portability. Through investigation and questionnaire survey, it was to probe children’s harassment in using the laptop. The questionnaire investigation was divided into two stages. In the first stage, it was to survey usre’s basic information and functional needs of children demand, meanwhile, according to the investigation of color matching by existing toy, the survey also understood the preferring shape and the actual demand for children users. In the second stage, it proposed five new concept designs of children laptop computer, and then conducted the assessments between children and their parents by questionnaire survey. This study used the tool of independent sample t test analysis to define satisfaction whether there is any significant between children and parents.
    The results showed that concept A、B、D、E using soft touch material and colors matching can attract the children and their parents to buy this product. In addition, the concept A and concept B can be replaced by the artificial leather to create the feeling with more vivid and more attractive. Concept A and concept B provided with one innovative handle design which let the overall shape of the products style be more unique. These two concepts had the result of average score by more than 4 in the views of children and parents. Among the 5 designs, the cases of durable products design such as concept A、B、D、E which can have the same preferences in the assessment of children and parents. In the concepts of D、E with the score less than 4, the main factor to make children and parents feel with poor durability is its overall proportion. In the study on the screen size, most of the examinee preferred 10.1 inches, such as design case A、B、D. Besides, the keyboard design by concept B is more popular by children and parents because of the size of the concept B.
    The concept designs in this study, some attributes were found. The shape、texture、size of carrying and product specifications are key subjects for essential consideration. Moreover, the result of this study provided the designers with achieving better notebook designs for children.
