Among them, cars are the most common and popular. The major concerns of safe transportation are reliability, safety, high strength and durability. Therefore forging is a necessary manufacturing process for automobile industry .In metal forming process the mold design is especially important, because it is related to productivity, duality, and cost of product. In this research the procedures of computer-aided design optimization of forging mold is built by integrating parametric geometric design, computer-aided engineering analysis, neural network,
optimization search. Forging mold optimization is achieved by simulation of forging process using SIMUFACT software, construction of meta-model using MATLAB neural network, and optimization search using genetic algorithm. The objective is to reduce tooling stress and improve mold life starting from the limited products(blank) design. From the results of study, the developed mold design process can not only decrease development period but also lower error rate. Meanwhile, the budget can also be cut down obviously.
