This study was aimed to evaluate the factors of fire hazards of low-rise residential buildings and to propose the strategy of prevention and control. Three steps were conducted ：(1) analyze the building code、 regulations of fire department and the statistic of fire incidents last five years；(2) design the questionnaire and conduct the surveys by interviewing the experts and (3) perform SWOT analysis and obtain the strategy matrix. Factors affecting the fire hazard of low-rise residential buildings are the excessive combustion materials in the room and electric shortcut.
