  • Abstract In this thesis, to overcome the drawbacks of Pal and king’s method which loses image detail information, we propose an improved fuzzy image enhancement method. To preserve more details of image information after enhancing image contrast, a new membership function is devised and a novel contrast enhancement algorithm is proposed. To deal with color image, we transform the RGB color model to HSI color model. Then we enhance the intensity component and saturation component, and preserve the hue component to keep the original color composition intact. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve excellent results in image enhancement.
