Title Determination of Heavy Metal in Biodegradable Plastic Materials

  • Abstract The purpose of this research is to develop a method for determing the heavy metals (As、Cd、Hg、Pb、) in the biodegradable plastic materials.First, using the European standard reference materials ERM 681Kin the traditional heating plate digestion and microwave digestion experiments. Arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead was quantified in the inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer(ICP-OES) analysis to assess the recovery rate. Through this process, we found the optimal conditions for the four heavy metals by the microwave digestion method. Finally, the establishment of the microwave digestion procedure for the biodegradable plastic materials, can provide a fast, accurate and sensitive method for heavy metal analysis biodegradable plastic materials.
    The best results obtained by adding 0.8mole for aqua regia 0.2 g samples in the Microwave digestion using trace of arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead, can be quantified by ICP-OES and got good accuracy. In this study, The recovery of arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead reference material EC-681K plastic was 99.9±6.5 %、94±2.3 %、94.7±1.7 %、94.39±4.0 %, respectively to make sure the good recovery of target metals in the biodegradable plastic samples. Therefore the determination of real. The established method can provide a good model in determining the toxic metals in the biodegradable plastic by the Microwave digestion pretreatment.
