And then we investigate the discrepancy on purchasing preferences on the single-function printer and multi- function printer.
Lastly we propose new design project of multi- function printer by aiming consumers’ preferences. In the early research, we surveyed 183 participants by using questionnaire to realize the reasons that would influence the purchasing willing of consumers on single-function printer and multi- function printer (MFP). Chi-square test finds out that the main reasons to use the mono-functional printer or MFP are that “don’t have to go out for printing”, “needs for work”, and “needs for life”. And there’s no significant difference between 2 kinds of printers. After that, by applying E-K-B mode as the structure, applying lifestyle and demographicsas the input variables, as well as applying AIO mode we compartmentalized the markets of multi-function machines and analyzed consumers features. Research indicates that product attributes can be categorized to 4 types - “Information quality type, Frugality type, Pinch pennies type, Fashion purchasing type”. As for late proposals for the MFP, majority were mainly concentrated on “Fashion purchasing type”. Therefore, we selected the famous brand, HP, which this group is fond to, and do comparisons between 2 kinds of MFP – CONCEPT01 as well as CONCEPT02, designed by the researcher. Result knows that this grouped consumer’s favorite kind is CONCEPT01. This research not only can be the design reference for related manufactures, but also could let consumers do more comparisons and considerations.
