Title THE INFLUENCE OF GRAIN SIZE AND ANODIZING ON PROPERTIES OF BLACK COLORED FILM OF AN AA6061 ALUMINUM ALLOY

  • Abstract The effect of grain size on the optical property and corrosion behavior of an anodic oxide film has been studied. Al specimens grain sizes were refined from 2±0.5mm to 20±3μm by thermal heat treatment. Specimens were subsequently anodized in a sulfuric acid solution using pulsed current and black colored in a solution containing cupric salt. The hardness of anodized film anodized at current density 1.5 A/dm2-60mins and 5 A/dm2-7mins were 348±18(HV5g) and 455±15(HV5g). Of the same film thickness (11μm), the anodic oxide film obtained at 1.5 A/dm2 current density showed lower reflectivity and CIE L value than film anodized at 5 A/dm2. The aluminum plates were anodized at current density 1.5 A/dm2 or 5 A/dm2, the obtained film thickness are 11±1μm or 22±2μm and enforce coloring time are 15 or 25minute. Aluminum of 20±3μm grain size showed more benefit on black coloring treatment. The corrosion current density of aluminum sheet was decreased 46% after black coloring. However the anodic oxide film after the sealing treatment has a obvious decreasing effect of corrosion current density about 62~78 %.
