Title The Evaluation of Algorithms for Out-of-Band Power Reduction of DRM System Under AWGN Environment

  • Abstract Digital Wireless communication plays an indispensable role in our daily lives. And it is also because of this, analogue AM broadcasts have been converted into digital FM broadcasts, therefore in the analog and digital conversion process, the “Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM)” system has been designed to replace analogue AM broadcasts. Of course, during the transition period of converting analogue AM broadcasts into the digital broadcasting, there is
    Co-existing Channel to Simulcast, and will induce adjacent channel phenomenon when there the bandwidth is limited.
    The use of “Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)” is a multi-carrier modulation techniques and it will enhance the efficiency of the transmission channel. Meanwhile, it can not only provide high-speed data transmission rate, but also be effective against inter symbol interference and the frequency selective fading channel under the circumstances of multipath fading.
    However, there is a drawback of out-of-band power emission in the frequency domain. In this thesis, we applied the concept of Boundary Smoothing, and used Tail-tracking Approach,
    Zero-Forcing Approach, and Insertion Cancellation Carriers Approach. Through different modulation signals, under the AWGN environment we are to examine if DRM will gain further improvements in reducing the out-of-band power.
