  • Abstract Parallax occlusion problem in relief mapping is often happened when the depth scale is enlarged or the height-field gradient changed significantly. This paper presents a method to ameliorate this problem. The main idea of the method is to compute a solid texture over the entire new visual surface. This could avoid texture stretch artifacts and discontinuities. In order to get more accurate results, we also combine the normal-based curved silhouette (NCS) for silhouette rendering.
