It boosts more and more needs of real presentations which speed up the development of a variety of 3D stereoscopic. In which floating projection technology is the first one of the three-dimensional projection technology among the variety of projection media. Due to its high price, it can only be watched in commercial activities. Floating projection requires translucent media to serve as the four views of the 3D object which could only be used in lower lighting environments.
Most current floating projection systems lack of interaction. In this study, the use of Unity3D engine to deal with the main part of the imaging, OpenCV image library, (C #) to do the image processing and operation, plastic film as the video cast media, monitor screen as the image source, and gesture detection as the main user interface tools. The main parts of this study are (1) gesture detection by using skin color to obtain the operator's hand movements, (2) 3D objects in the scene, (3) functionality of the floating projection, and (4) interaction with the floating projection. By the combination of above techniques, we hope such kind of technology could be applied to certain level of all aspects of life.
After experiments, we confirmed the floating projection, not only can be used in the show but also do not necessarily need expensive equipment to use. You can achieve interactive floating projection, expanding the functionality, and fun of the floating projection.
