  • Abstract With a view to promoting the concept of healthy work, countries in Europe and America have introduced the concept of height-adjustable desks one after another. Through adjusting the height of the desks, workers can switch between sitting and standing while working, which increases greater changes in their body postures for achieving better health.
    This project innovatively developed mechanically lift adjustable desk legs, which are a breakthrough from the conventional electrical adjustable desk. These desk legs are not operated by electricity, but make use of gas spring in conjunction with a parallel four-bar linkage mechanism. These legs enable a smooth height adjustment at a higher speed than the electrical counterpart. The linkage-bar mechanism allows an adjustment range between 70 and 116 cm, a broader range than that (70-102 cm) in the conventional gas spring lift adjustable desk. Additionally the height-adjustable desktop has a loading capacity of over 20 kg of computer peripherals, office equipment and so on. Users can at any time adjust and fix by themselves the height their work requires.
