  • Abstract In this thesis, a ring-patch circularly polarized antenna is presented. The ring is stacked above the patch and is separated from the patch by an air layer with around 0.1 wavelengths thickness. By controlling relative sizes of the ring and the patch, a wideband circularly polarized wave can be generated. In experiment, the antenna yields a 10dB return loss bandwidth of 15.7%(836-979MHz) and a 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of 7.7%(870-940MHz). the antenna gain is more than 6dBic within the over lapped return loss and axial ratio bandwidth.
