A Pd based electrocatalyst was synthesized on Polyethyleneimine modified MWCNTs support in direct formic acid fuel cells.
The results of FTIR indicate polyethyleneimine can modify the surface of MWCNTs. XRD analysis shows the contents of polyethyleneimine (PEI) can affect the nanoparticle size on the surface of MWCNTs in the Au and Pd system. According to FE-SEM results, Au, and AuPd nanoparticles have the best dispersion in the sample of 0.5wt% PEI modification of MWCNTs. Using the CV measurement in the AuPd catalyst system, the best result is 1.0P-MWCNTs. There is no perfect solid solution of Au and Pd in AuPd/1.0P-MWCNTs. While after 20th cycle of CV, the oxidation current is still retained about 256.3mA/mgPd.
