  • Abstract Highway tunnel is designed to be a special space of meeting traffic transportation requirement. Its efficacy doesn’t only save time for drivers but also promotes social prosperity and regional development. However, highway tunnel is a semi-closed environment. Once serious disaster occurs inside tunnel, it is very difficult for people inside who want to escape from disaster or disaster relief personnel from outside to conduct rescue. Therefore, in preliminary period of tunnel design, except various disaster prevention measures are cautiously planned, behavior characteristics are considered, accident and risk control on tunnel is conducted, how to apply information technology in highway tunnel to provide and deliver emergent accident messages to vehicles driving in tunnel in case accidents appear, furthermore, start relevant security mechanism to allow people inside tunnel to clearly understand escape direction, send message to fire fighters and citizens outside tunnels for making detour, so as to reduce difficulty of rescuing people, is a very important topic. This research creates a real-time communication system suitable to be used during driving for drivers, with the purpose to remind drivers and passengers inside tunnels of location, distance and escape direction concerning accidents, also remind drivers not entering tunnel of replacing drive route, so as to reduce occurrence probability of disaster accidents and maintain life security of road users. This study integrates inter-vehicle communication and mechanism concerning positioning, discusses and evaluates acceptance of this system by users through questionnaire finally. Through analysis results, most respondents show their agreement on this system, which proves that our system is acceptable by a majority of respondents.
