Title Study on Error Control Coding for DVB systems

  • Abstract The channel coding is very important in wireless communication systems, such as Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) systems, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) systems, and 802.11 systems. And the Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes are popular in channel coding techniques. In coding theory, when the block length increases, the error probability will exponentially decrease. But the decoding complexity is growing by polynomial-time. To solve this problem of finding a code, called concatenated code. The encoder-channel-decoder model added two codes and their associated encoders and decoders are called inner and outer, respectively. The outer code will be a BCH code which is general and can be implemented relatively easily. In this paper, we study the concatenated code in the DVB systems, combined the outer code – BCH with the inner code – LDPC becoming the concatenated code, and improved the bits error rate of systems. Simulation results must compare with the original LDPC and analyze the results.
