This study planned two psychophysical experiments. The purpose of experiment I is to understand the difference between measurement values and visual assessment on color and gloss attributes. Experiment II is to explore the emotional factors affecting color and gloss and the relationship between appearance attributes and emotional factors.
The findings summarized below (1) the difference between visual assessment and measurement values were found to be inconsistent. (2) Three emotional factors for the color and gloss on the curved surface are “Warmth and Kindly”, “Taste”, and “Gentle”. (3) The color emotions were changed by gloss. (4) “Warmth and Kindly” is correlating with chroma and hue, “Taste” is correlating with chroma and hue, and “Gentle” is correlating with lightness and hue.
