HDMI is a high speed connector used in HDTV. The second part is to explain the theory of TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry), extraction of spice-model, and the theory of eye diagram. The third part is the comparison between simulation and measurement of HDMI. We use TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) to measure impedances of HDMI and use CST (electromagnetic simulation package) to simulate the impedances of HDMI. We compare differential impedance and single end impedance. The results are the same. So we can use CST to simulate crosstalk of HDMI. We simulate crosstalk in time and frequency domain. The fourth part is analysis the characters of HDMI by eye diagrams. We measure eye diagrams of HDMI with test fixture. With data rate increasing, we can observe the variation of eye diagrams. From eye diagram, we measure some parameters to determine signal characteristics. Otherwise, we can use CST to simulate eye diagrams to offset the effects of test fixture. And put spice-model of HDMI into Microwave Office to simulate eye diagrams. The spice-model only has part of connector. We can get the really eye diagram effects of connector.
